• The Canadian red cedar, also known as western red cedar or Thuja plicata, is an ornamental and timber evergreen conifer of the cypress family (Cupressaceae). It is native to the Pacific coast of North America, especially growing in the coastal forests of British Columbia, Canada23.
• Natural Durability: The red cedar contains natural extractives such as Thujaplicins and Thujic acid. Thujaplicins, a kind of alcohol, gives the wood high corrosion resistance, while Thujic acid can prevent the wood from being eroded by insects.
